Everything in one place
What does seamless gutter mean?
The gutter is formed at your building out of a single coil of aluminum, cut to the exact length of the roof line. A 40 foot run comes off the machine as one 40 foot piece. The only joints on it are the end caps and the downspout outlet. Sectional gutter, by contrast, is joined every few feet, and each of those joints can eventually leak.
Do you install 5 inch or 6 inch gutter?
Both. Five inch handles most houses. Six inch, with larger downspouts, moves noticeably more water, which matters on long runs, steep pitches and metal roofs. Zach will tell you which one your building needs when he measures it.
Do you work on pole barns, machine sheds and shops?
Yes. A large share of the work is agricultural and outbuildings. The projects page has machine sheds, shops, carports, a historic barn and a barndominium alongside the houses.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. Zach comes out, measures the building and gives you a price. There is no charge for that and no obligation attached to it.
How much will my gutters cost?
It depends on the total length of the roof line, the height, how many downspouts the building needs and whether you want leaf guard or snow bar. That is why the estimate happens at the building rather than over the phone.
What counties do you cover?
Henry, Des Moines, Lee, Jefferson, Wapello, Van Buren and Davis County, Iowa. If you are near the edge of that area, call and ask.
Can you repair gutter someone else installed?
Yes. Most repair work is on runs put up by somebody else. Sagging sections, lost pitch, leaking joints and storm damage are all normal jobs.
Should I repair or replace?
One dropped section on an otherwise sound run is a repair. A run leaking at half its joints usually is not worth chasing. Zach will tell you which one you have.
Does leaf guard mean I never clean gutters again?
No. It stops the trough packing solid with wet leaves, which is the main problem under trees. Fine grit and seed can still need an occasional look. Anyone promising zero maintenance is overselling it.
What is a snow bar for?
It holds snow on a metal roof so it releases gradually instead of sliding off as one sheet onto the door, the walk or the gutter below. It goes on the elevations where a slide would land on something that matters.
Do you clear the downspouts when you clean gutters?
Yes, and that is the important half of the job. The outlet where the trough drops into the downspout is usually where the blockage actually is.
